MORE DETAILS A Recital of Russian Piano Music William Koseluk, Pianist William
Koseluk, Pianist, plays two piano pieces by Rachmaninov: Sonata
#1 in D Minor, Op. 28 (1907) and Sonata #2 in B-flat Minor,
Op. 36 (Original Version, 1913); and the Theme and Variations in
F Major, Op. 19, No.
6, by Tchaikovsky. Mr. Koseluk received his B.M. and M.A. in piano,
studying with Professor Betty Oberacker at the Universtiy of California,
Santa Barbara (UCSB). During this time he was the winner of the Ernö
Daniel Piano Award and the Arthur Oresekes Memorial Prize at UCSB,
and he achieved national distinction in numerous competitions. He studied
composition with Ernst Bacon, William Kraft, JoAnne Kuchera-Morin,
and Emma Lou Diemer. He was a winner of the Corwin Composition Prize
in 1993 and a past winner of the Virginia State Composer's Award. As
a pianist Koseluk has performed internationally. In 1999, he premiered
John Carbon's Piano Concerto with the Prague Radio Orchestra in Boston's
Symphony Hall and repeated this performance the following hear, as
