Concept to Commerce: Renewable Energy & the Hydrogen Economy Michal Moore • Bengt Kasemo To take an unbiased look at how our nation makes the transition from dependency on carbon-based fuels to a sustainable, alternative fuels-based future was this summit’s mission; as well as to present current and emerging energy technologies for short- and long-term solutions to world needs, with additional focus on the socio-economic and political factors which enable or obstruct their adoption. Experts from around the globe came together to seek alternative energy solutions, examine the trade-offs and barriers associated with marketability, and to grapple with related issues. Michal C. Moore is Senior Fellow at the Institute for Sustainable Energy, Environment and Economy at the Universityof Calgary in Alberta. He is the former Chief Economist at the National Renewable Laboratory, where he led a research team engaged in examining over-the-horizon issues for the Department of Energy and developing new methods for cross-cutting analysis. Bengt Kasemo is Professor of Physics at Chalmers University of Technology,Gothenburg. Kasemo is building a program on Nanotechnology for Sustanable Energy and Environemnt at Chalmers. He is chair of a Norwegian committee to formulate a National Strategy in Nanotechnology, where energy technology is one of the highest priority areas.
