7th Annual New Venture Competition

To create new companies from cutting-edge technology, the 7th Annual New Venture Competition allows the next wave of technology entrepreneurs to present their business ideas to an outstanding panel of venture capitalists, angel investors, serial entrepreneurs, and technology business leaders.

In the competition, Emergency Medical Technologies defeated four other finalists for top honors, as Eran Levy, Adam Brener and Nathan Lovell pitched their company to a panel of judges, while showcasing a combined laryngoscope with a suction system that allows for increased intubation efficiency.

Nathan Bouxsein, Jerry Macala, Chris McAllister and Rafi Simon won the award for best pitch with their company, Calipgen, which offers new means of delivering biotechnology therapies inside cells to fight disease more effectively.

The award for best written plan went to Kevin Boulware, Marco Mena and Sejal Hall of Aware Biotechnologies, which is commercializing biomarkers for the early detection of breast, ovarian and pancreatic cancers.

The judges were Bill Stensrud, General Partner & Managing Director, Enterprise Partners Venture Capital; Kathy Odell, CEO, Inogen; Jeff Henley, Chairman, Oracle Corporation; and Bob Johnson, Managing Partner, Founders Capital Partners (FCP).
